I wanted to change the way people grabbed my business cards at my grad show, so when visitors reached for a card off my table they were in for a little surprise. Thanks to the guys and gals at Evil Mad Science I was able to put together this interactive LED panel that uses sensors to detect changes in light value.
Photos and a video:
This was a prototype made by Nancy Chui and Kevin Kwok. The website was created with the Raphael js library. The screen is an Acer T230H running off a Windows 7 laptop with multi touch built it intuitively. The project was showcased at a graduation show located at the Art Center College of Design.
We still have some bugs to fix and we find it works best on Google Chrome, no I am not just saying that (har har har).
The other day a bunch of us from the office volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and dedicated our time to help out an elder couple fix their house. That was hard, but worth the good heart-warming feeling? But not the burning sensation in your arms the next morning.
Work has been great, and they sure keep me busy.
We got this in the office the other day with another one the way. It is INCREDIBLY fast, honestly faster than ipad1 haven’t really sat down with iPad2 yet to say its faster than that. But I know the cameras on this are way better than the iPad2 cameras. I believe Motorola won best tablet for CES 2011 with the Xoom (also their newest android phone—the Atrix won in the phone category). Did I mention I love work?
I also got to get away for the weekend and made a trip to Vegas. Good times.
Busy busy busy!
I started work at JPL working in the OPSlab department focusing on new technologies like the Kinect. It’s really fun and so are the people I work with. I get to do various graphics and even an interface or two. On top of that the internship is paid and I walk by a group of deer every morning from my car to the office, pretty sweet deal going on here.
Take a look at my shiny badge, they put me as a contractor, hello extra level of clearance. I love this place can’t wait to see what comes out of my time here.
And our friend Dan Goods is not far away, either are his styrofoam robots he has around campus. I am geek heaven! Too bad I started just after they came back from GDC (
Game Developers Conference)
Went to a lecture at school last night with Nancy and got to sit down and shake the hand of Mr. Aaron Koblin. We showed him some of our projects, he seemed to like them which is a good sign. Meeting him was like meeting a big time celebrity, definitely a day to remember. Thanks Aaron.
